Visiting North America's ONLY Ice Hotel

Sometimes you need a winter vacation! It’s not always about beaches and hikes, every now and then you need to pack 45 coats in your suitcase and head to a winter wonderland. One of the best winter experiences I had was visiting the Ice Hotel “Hotel de Glace” in Quebec City, Canada. It is one of 2 ice hotels in the world and the only one in North America! When I say ice hotel, I mean that the entire hotel is built out of ice. Everything from the walls, to the couches, to the cups, to the beds!

How to get there: The easiest way to get there is to fly to Montreal, Canada and take a bus out to the hotel. The bus ride was a couple of hours, and of course while I was there, there was a snowstorm so it was a treacherous ride. But when you arrive in Quebec City, you’re transported to a quaint town full of cute restaurants and lovely locals who are more than willing to help you around. We took an uber from the bus station to brunch at L’Gros Luxe and grabbed another uber from there to the hotel.

Location: The hotel is located inside Village Vacances Valcartier - which is essentially a ski resort. Whether you’re in the mood to ski, tube or just explore the hotel, this village has everything you need. Just be sure to head out early back to the bus station so you can snag another uber or regular taxi out of there.

It can be pretty pricey to stay overnight at the ice hotel, but if you’re looking for a one day getaway, this is definitely one of my top picks.
