Why The Amalfi Coast Needs To Be Your Next Vacation

Capri Italy

Seems like a no brainer, but guys, THE AMALFI COAST NEEDS TO BE YOUR NEXT VACATION!

I can’t say enough great things about Italy - it’s one of my favorite countries on Earth and not so secretly, I’d love to own a home there one day. One of you asked me for tips for the Amalfi Coast in Italy, so here I am to deliver!

When thinking about planning your upcoming spring/summer trips, here are my top 10 reasons why the Amalfi Coast in Italy should be on your list. If you end up booking a trip to Italy, bookmark this post so you don’t miss out on some of the amazing things Positano, Sorrento and Capri have to offer.

1. Views at Positano - Let’s start with the obvious. We’ve all seen those breathtaking views of the Amalfi Coast spotted with gorgeous Italian homes and a sunset to die for.

2. The Food - I’m a sucker for Italian food so you can’t go wrong almost anywhere along the Amalfi Coast. If you love seafood, there are some incredible spots that I’ll dedicate an entire post to, but for now I’ll just tell you to stop by Chez Black.

3. Hike The Path of the Gods - For those of you that love a good hike, this one is not to be missed. Take in those stunning views from the top of the mountain and work your way down through winding streets to the ocean.

4. Lounge at a luxury hotel - In a place like the Alamfi Coast, everything seems so luxurious. Treat yourself to some wine or dinner at one of my favorite 5 star hotels Palazzo Murat, Il San Pietro, or Le Sirenuse. You won’t be disappointed.

5. Take a ferry to Capri - One of the best day trips from Positano is to the island of Capri. It’s about 20 minutes by boat and you can either spend the day exploring the island or even rent a hotel and stay a few days. Think cinematic beaches, clear blue water and limoncello.

6. Swim in a grotto - Whether you’re on Capri or taking a boat tour through the coast, most boats will stop and let you swim into a grotto in the ocean. Grottos are essentially tiny little caves in the ocean that you can swim into. The water is completely clear and a luminous bright blue! No trip to the Amalfi Coast is complete without swimming in a grotto so make sure your swimming skills are up to date. My two favorites are The Blue Grotto or the Emerald Grotto.

7. Shop - I know, I know, you only brought one suitcase. Well, thankfully leather sandals and handbags don’t take up too much room, right?! I have found so many beautiful leather accessories while visiting the Amalfi Coast. The best part is that it won’t cost you an arm and a leg like it would back in the US. If leather isn’t your thing, there are definitely some places that have vegan leather!

8. Enjoy a day at the beach - What’s a trip along the coast without a day at the beach! You can rent beach chairs on the shore for around $10 USD per chair and $2 for towels. This saved me from carrying around a giant bag of towels and beach gear all day. The best part is that you can order drinks straight to your lounge chair while you soak up the sun.

9. Wander aimlessly through Sorrento - With so many tiny winding streets full of art, ice cream and vespas, you can spend an entire day getting lost in the streets and feeling like a local. Start at Piazza Tasso and whether you go right, left, up or down, you’ll find something new and exciting.

10. Learn a new skill - One of the best activities to do in Sorrento is to take a farm tour where you get to learn how to make pizza the proper Italian way. It’s always great to be able to take a new skill back home and wow your friends with your new pizza making abilities.
